Scenario:
1. You have a local system which has a printer connected (PRNT 1) using the COM1: Serial Port.
2. User connects to a Citrix published desktop (CTXD1) wherein the printer PRNT 1 is auto created.
3. User connects to an application server (APPS1) using RDC from CTXD1.
4. User tries to print a page to PRNT1 from APPS1 which fails.

Solution:
Modification to be made on Citrix Server CTXD1
1. Go to Presentation Server Console -- Policies -- Create Policy -- Provide name and description to the policy.
2. Client Devices -- Resources -- Port -- Disable "Turn off COM ports".
3. Go to Start -- Run -- gpedit.msc
4. Computer Configuration -- Administrative Templates -- Windows Components -- Terminal Services -- Client/Server data redirection -- Disable "Do not allow COM port redirection".

Modification to be made on RDC server APPS1
1. Go to Start -- Run -- mstsc -- Options -- Local Resources -- Select Printers and Serial Ports under Local devices -- Connect to APPS1 server.
2. Go to Start -- Run -- gpedit.msc
3. Computer Configuration -- Administrative Templates -- Windows Components -- Terminal Services -- Client/Server data redirection -- Disable “Do not allow COM port redirection” and “Do not allow client printer redirection”.
4. Install the PRNT1 printer driver.
